Kim Wilde's Christmas Party!
Sunday 22nd December 2013
The run up to christmas has seen me involved in a mini-tour with Kim Wilde (featuring Nik Kershaw) promoting her christmas album. The tour comprised of a warm-up show in Saasveld, Netherlands, followed by the O2 Academies in Bristol, Birmingham and London Shepherd's Bush. As monitor engineer, I looked after both artists, and carried a small control package from Capital Sound, including a DiGiCo SD8, 10-ways of Sennheiser G3 IEM and 4-ways of Shure UHF-R. I also utilised my own RME MADIface USB and MacBook Pro for virtual soundcheck.
Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited Autumn 2013
Monday 4th November 2013
I just came back off the road as monitor/PA technician with Steve Hackett and the final leg of his Genesis Revisited Tour 2013. Over 2 weeks, it visited a number of venues around the UK including Birmingham Symphony Hall, O2 Academy Manchester and the Royal Albert Hall. The show was very well received and will go back out on the road next year. Capital Sound supplied a touring system of 24 Martin Audio W8LCs and 6 S218 sub-woofers, with a Yamaha CL5 at FOH and a Soundcraft Vi1 on monitors.
Thursday 10th October 2013
Again, I have had a varied September, with jobs ranging from FOH line array tech on Stage 3 at Shakedown festival in Brighton, the Wilde Summer Ball (a charity ball in aid of the Wilde Breast Cancer Fund) and monitors for DJ Yoda and the Transiberian March Orchestra at Bestival. I also mixed FOH and monitors for an 11-year old choir boy called Jack Topping who performed at a showcase for Universal Music and an appearance on the Alan Titchmarsh show.
